Useful Tips

• Restart your Mac at least once a month. You'll find that your computer will run faster and more smoothly if you do.

• Keep current backups of your computer and your iOS devices. In short, if you'd be bummed over losing data, you should back it up on a regular basis. TimeMachine, which is built in to the Mac OS, provides for a perfect way to do it. All you need to do is invest in storage space, either on a physical external drive or in a cloud-based backup solution.

• Use an antivirus solution. Really. Macs can get viruses and malware. There are fantastic free solutions. We recommend the Sophos Antivirus package, which is free for consumers. It also include malware protection.

• If you do end up with software you didn't want, there's a great application on Apple's AppStore called "AppCleaner". It's small, fast, and great at finding all the pieces of a software package so you can really uninstall it.
